Visualization works from a human perspective because we respond to and process visual data better than any other type of data. In fact, the human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text, and 90 percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual.
Rehab India foundation has initiated its unique Programme “Education on Wheel” with concept of visual studies .It is an integrated approach towards improving the quality of education for underprivileged children. It seeks to ensure pre-primary and primary education for all children up to the age of 14 yrs. leading to their overall development. The Programme comprises of energy efficient E-rickshaw with a television loaded with audio and visual education capsules for drop out children. Student feel more connected with pictures and can easily relate and remembers it.
The project has been implemented in the South Delhi slums. The key component of the project is an E- rickshaw designed as mobile classroom to provide alternate educational facilities to street children and pavement dwellers. Efforts are being made to enroll these children in formal schools at the beginning of the next financial year. Other key components of the project include a community educational Programme, guardians awareness Programme, pre-matric scholarship assistance.
Since 2017, the project has so far directly benefitted more than 150 children between the age group of 3-14 years. In a year span Education on wheels has reached various slums - Dhobi Ghat, Noor nagar and Jasola slums. Classes are conducted five days a week in the evening.
