This is the bitter reality of our country that 83.3 crore people live in the villages of India and we are ashamed to share that democratically elected government is far away from real problems and issues. In spite of government welfare schemes, corporate, PSU and foreign funding, poverty remains a chronic condition for almost 30% of the rural population especially living in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
There are different reports which concluded that in most of the villages people have no proper facilities in terms of infrastructure and level of education. Poor villagers have no idea of sanitation, pure drinking water, concrete houses and not even one meal in a day.
In most of the countries, we can find different social issues that halt the progress of nation, be it race, geographical location, religion or racism. But unfortunately, we can find maximum elements that pull back people to grow or move forward. To support poor rural people to come into mainstream of development, there are 3.3 million NGOs. Maximum NGOs are active in implementing programmes at grass root level and some are providing capacity building support to them.
And, we have a strong belief that these issues can be solved by working with and empowering grass root organizations in these communities. This can be achieved by volunteering.
